And GUI dialogue is needed, where the user can map columns of the Excel to data categories of the TermCollection, in which the Excel is imported.
All columns, that would appear for the TermCollection in question in the existing Excel export option should be available for mapping columns of the imported Excel to.
To achieve this, first the imported Excel needs to be parsed for column headers. When uploading the file, therefore the user must select the row number, that contains the column headers.
After the Excel has been parsed for column headers, the user will be offered a table-like component, that lists in the left column all found column headers.
In the right column there will be drop-downs for every row. The drop-down contains all column headers, that would appear in the Excel export for that TermCollection. If one of them is selected in one of the rows, it will not be selectable anymore in one of the other rows.
There are 2 additional options for the drop-downs, that will always be selectable:
- Create new attribute as picklist
- Create new attribute as textfield
Those will do, what they say: Create a new attribute in the TermCollection, that did not exist before the import with the column header as attribute label.
The made selections can be saved as a template for future imports under a name, that must be unique.
Also at the top of the table there will be a selection list to select an existing template, that - when selected - will pre-populate the right column of the table with values that fit to the values in the left column, if available in the template.
Columns of the Excel for which no mapping is configured, will not be imported.
In addition a button "Import" will be added right next to the "Clear filters" button in the TermPortal. When clicked, a pop-up appears, where the user can select a TermCollection (if more than 1 TermCollection is available for him). In addition he will be able to select either a TBX or an xlsx file for import. In case of xlsx the mentioned dialogue is shown.
Only the TermPM and TermPM(all clients) roles will have the right to import.
