Description
Again and again there are usability complains about the fact, that the opened segment is not scrolling together with the segment table.
This once was meant as a major usability help for the user, because it helps him to keep the focus and compare the segment, while he searches for related content.
Yet other tools work differently and often users prefer it to scroll with the content.
Therefore with implementing this feature, users should be enabled to choose, it they want the segment to scroll with the segment table or if it should stay open in the fore-ground and the segment table scrolls beyond it (as it is the case at the moment).
When scrolling it with the table, the functionality would be as follows:
- If it scrolls out of sight, it would still be kept open
- If the segment
- even scrolls out of the range of segments, that are currently loaded in the browser
- or if a filter is set, that does not include the currently opened segment,
- or if the user would try to close the task of the browser(-tab)
- then translate5 would virtually keep it open. Meaning: It would automatically reopen it, if it would be scrolled into sight again. And it would not be saved.
- If a segment would be virtually open and the user would open another one, it would be saved (just as it is the case if it is in sight), but in difference to it being in sight the user would be prompted, if he wants to save it (showing the content of the segment in the prompt and giving him 3 options:
- save it
- skip saving
- keep it open and scoll into sight
- CTRL+G would scroll the current segment again into the middle of the screen, independent from where it had been scrolled
The following screenshot shows, how the open segment looks like
