Description
These proposals orientate at which shortcut SDL Trados Studio has assigned.
Shortcuts will work in Firefox, Safari and Chrome, and may work in Internet Explorer.
Where not explained something else: Tooltip explaining the shortcut is shown at the corresponding buttons, for shortcut-tooltips without corresponding buttons see subtask TRANSLATE-589.
Users must be pointed in documentation towards the fact, that shortcuts that are used by the operating system will not work in translate5. For these shortcuts to work in translate5, they must be deactivated as shortcut in the operating system. For Ubuntu e.g. this is the case with CTRL+ALT+UP, CTRL+ALT+DOWN, CTRL+ALT+LEFT and CTRL+ALT+RIGHT
Area | Short-cut | Action |
---|---|---|
Opened modal pop-up window | ESC | Close modal window (any of them) (note: this is already working) |

Open segment | CTRL+ALT+ENTER | Save segment-row, change auto-status and open next below independent of autostatus in the current filter set |
Open segment | ALT+PAGE-DOWN | Open next without saving or changing auto-status (next with initial autostatus for the current workflow-step (or an auto-status previous to the initial autostatus for this workflow-step) in the current filter set); new button necessary |
Open segment | ALT+PAGE-UP | Open previous without saving or changing auto-status (previous with initial autostatus for the current workflow-step (or an auto-status previous to the initial autostatus for this workflow-step) in the current filter set); new button necessary |
Open segment | CTRL+ALT+DOWN | Do not save segment or change auto-status and open next editable segment independent of autostatus (new button necessary; implement only, if very little work) |
Open segment | CTRL+ALT+UP | Do not save segment or change auto-status and open previous editable segment independent of autostatus (new button necessary; implement only, if very little work) |
Open segment | CTRL+ALT+LEFT | Open the previous column of the same row for editing (do not save segment or change auto-status on switching between columns, but save when in first col and change to previous row, same behaviour as with arrow buttons) Open the previous column of the same row for editing (do not save segment or change auto-status on switching between columns, but save when in last col and change to next row, same behaviour as with arrow buttons) |
Open segment | CTRL+ALT+RIGHT | Open the next column of the same row for editing (do not save segment or change auto-status on switching between columns, but save when in last col and change to next row, same behaviour as with arrow buttons) Open the previous column of the same row for editing (do not save segment or change auto-status on switching between columns, but save when in last col and change to next row, same behaviour as with arrow buttons) |
Open segment | F2 | Open first editable column of active row (if no segment is open for editing; if a segment is open, but the cursor is not in the segment: focus the segment and place cursor in segment; tooltip explaining the shortcut is shown, when a row is single-clicked - tooltip also informs about double-clicking a row to edit it; implementation is part of TRANSLATE-589) If a unsaved segment comment is in the comment input field, this should be saved on saving the whole segment. |
Open segment | CTRL+ALT+C | Add new comment on segment-level for active row (independent, if segment has been opend for editing); tooltip when mouse over new/edit comment button in comment-column with a segment opened |
Open segment | ESC | Cancel editing of segment without any changes |
Open segment | CTRL+ALT+1 ... CTRL+ALT+X | Assign radio-button 1-X (in segment-meta-panel) to segment |
Note the above mentioned "autostatus / workflowstep" filter: User should jump to the next segment not edited already by him (or another user in the same role).
The filter does not work for editing as PM, since then no workflowStepNr is defined!
